Chris Cotton
(The Blue Eyed Devils)

www.cottonchris.com

Chris Cotton's on his own now after fronting The Blue Eyed Devils at the 2003 San Francisco Blues festival.

He's got his own website and a recording contract too.

Our old verbiage:

Keyed by Chris Cotton, these lads promise boot-stomping, whiskey-drinking music.

To elaborate, The Blue Eyed Devils are spreading the word of he blues through their own unique take on the blues music of the 30's and 40's; an upbeat style that's a little Mississippi, a little Piedmont, and a lot of country blues and throws in a rhythm section that's bold and loud bringing it into the present pantheon of music. Chris Cotton sings and plays acoustic guitar, Brendan Wheatley plays harmonica and sings, Brett Klynn plays electric and stand-up bass, and Justin Markovits plays percussion and washboard. The median age of the band is 26 years old making them one of the youngest working blues bands in the Bay Area.

The Legend of Shorty Brown is their current album, recorded live with no overdubs in a barn in North Carolina with producer James Mathus (known for his work with Squirrel Nut Zippers, Buddy Guy, Knockdown Society) and is garnishing attention nationwide for its original feel and rawness.

The Devils have toured the West Coast several times, and are "threatening to break out nationwide" according to The San Jose Mercury News.
